Customized courses

These courses for foreign teams give trainers a chance to offer their young players (age 7 to 16) “Bordeaux-style” training.  The official Girondins de Bordeaux courses offer considerable expertise in refining young players’ skills. The courses take place at the FC Girondins de Bordeaux training centre and thus offer ideal conditions.

The courses offer Cap Girondins’ existing training methods to groups of footballers who are keen to enjoy the experience of training at the Girondins centre. Clubs may however choose to adjust their programme to cover those areas that they would like worked on as a priority.

A friendly match is also built in, usually midweek, to give everyone a chance to see how much progress they have made. It’s also a chance for young course members from abroad to compare themselves with a local team of a good standard. This is an important stage as it allows the players to put the lessons they have learned during the week into practice.

A popular formula

The first session of this kind took place in spring 2008, when Cap Girondins welcomed a delegation of young players from Dubai to its facilities. In 2009, two teams came from Quebec to follow a Cap Girondins course. Interest in these courses is in fact increasing across the Atlantic, as 4 Quebec clubs have already booked courses for 2011.

Accommodation conditions

As for the traditional courses, the young footballers are accommodated on the Plaine des Sports du Haillan, the FC Girondins de Bordeaux training centre. They stay in eight-bedded chalets. Supervision is provided by Cap Girondins instructors.

Accompanying adults are put in touch with the Tourist Office and Cap Girondins’ partners. They can use the course as an opportunity to observe the Cap Girondins training methods and explore the region.
